Try out water polo with our club for FREE. If you are new to the sport and want to try it out before committing to the season or an ILWP session, this trial registration is for you.

Free Trial (Short-term) Members

Free trial (short-term) members are covered under the Water Polo Canada (WPC) insurance policy on a one-time basis for a maximum of fourteen (14) consecutive days. After the trial period is complete, registrants must be registered in the WPC National Registration Database for continued coverage. This coverage is intended for those individuals who are trying the sport for the first time. As such, an individual can only be considered a free trial member once.

Any individual who has previously completed a free trial may not complete an additional trial, regardless of whether it is with a different water polo club. These individuals will be required to register with a club prior to participating in any water polo activities.

Try Adult Polo (Ages 18+) (Free Trial Member - For Athletes ONLY)

Try out a water polo practice with our Adult Rec athletes for FREE. If you are new to the sport and want to try it out before committing to the season, this is the package for you. Practices are Thursdays from 7:30-8:30 pm at the Shaw Centre. 

The 2025-2026 Season runs from September through March. We welcome you come try out and/or join a program even once the season has begun!

Gear: All you need is a swimsuit (preferred swimsuit for women is a one-piece), water bottle, goggles, and swim cap (if preferred).

New to the sport or looking to improve your water polo skills? Join us Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30! It’s a great way to stay active and/or learn a new sport. Practices will introduce participants to basic and intermediate water polo skills with a mix of drills, games, and scrimmages. Depending on registration numbers, we schedule scrimmages every few weeks—with the goal of scrimmaging weekly as the program grows!

This is an instruction based program. There are no competition fees included in the registration.

PRACTICES: 

Sundays 2:30 - 3:30 @ YMCA Downtown: April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, May 10, May 24, May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21.

COMPETITIONS:

Registration includes training and competition fees. Accommodation and transportation are at the athletes responsibility. 

Semi-Comp Admirals (1-day/wk, Born 2014-2017) (Water Polo for Life)

This package is a 1 Day/Week Option for the Admirals Group. Registrants must select either Mondays 7-9pm or Wednesdays 7-9pm (you will be asked to make a selection later on in this registration). Registrants are still encouraged to attend all of the CL and Provincial competitions listed below.

The Semi-Comp Admirals train 1x/wk on either Mondays or Wednesdays. Semi-Comp kids will train with the Admiral group.

All athletes born between 2012 and 2013 who wish to train and compete with Team Sask (including DC/HC Friday training) must register for this package. In accordance with WPS policy, only those who participate in all available club training opportunities are eligible for DC/HC training and Team Sask competition.

This package is for adults 19 and older who are Pirates Alumni, Team Sask Alumni, or past water polo players from another club. This group will have the opportunity to scrimmage once a week with elite Pirates from our youth programs. Adult Competitive athletes are also encouraged to participate in CL and Provincials (fees are included in the registration).
