Blast Ball (U5) Spring 2023 (Blast Ball (U5))
$155.00

Blast Ball is the FIRST division of RMMBA baseball!! If your child is born in 2018, then this is the division for you. Blast Ball is focused of the FUNdamentals of baseball. Every player gets a chance to field all positions and bat everywhere in the line up. We focus on learning the skills of the game, while having fun and being part of a team environment.
Blast Ball is exactly the same as Rally Cap, just for 2018 players (Rally Cap is for 2017 players).
Players hit off the tee and can only run one base at a time. We use a softer ball for safety, so all kids can learn to throw and receive without developing a fear of the ball.
You will play Tuesdays and Thursdays at various Ridge Meadows school fields. Season starts first week of April and is approximately 10 weeks long. You will play an opening day, skills day in May and end of year day in June, all on Saturday's. Beside these three Saturdays, it is ALWAYS just every Tuesday and Thursday .
Your association provides all the field gear, bats and schedule. Your child will need a glove, helmet, cleats and a positive attitude.
Registration is usually full so sign up early to avoid disappointment.
RMMBA is 100% volunteer run from top to bottom. This year we will be implementing a Volunteer fee of $75 in the form of a post dated cheque (which will only be cashed if the volunteer commitment has not been met). We will hold coaches clinics for those than can commit to coaching. Those that cannot coach are still required to volunteer at EVERY game. Coaches need to focus on coaching, parents must set up/take down the fields, ensure the safety of the children waiting to bat, help with warm up and cool down. It's a very small amount of work if we all do our part, but a huge job if you let it all fall on your coach!

Bantam (15U, born 2008/2009) will have 2 practices + 2 games per week with games being on Monday/Wednesday/Sunday. All teams will have practice time on Saturdays and another throughout the week.
Bantam "A" Spring teams are created after evaluations and a draft and will likely consist of a number of RMMBA teams who interlock (play other associations). There will be evaluations in May to create our Summer "A" team.
Our Bantam "AA" team will also be created after evaluations, will interlock throughout the Spring and Summer, and will also include a travel tournament. This is a competitive team and your player's commitment is very important at this level.
*There will be an additional team fee charged on top of the regular Spring Registration fee for this program. Please reach out to bantam@rmmba.ca if you have questions about the cost and commitment level for this program.
Our Bantam "AAA" team as well will be created after evaluations and interlocks throughout the GVRD and Fraser Valley, and also includes some games and tournaments on Vancouver Island and into the Interior/Okanagan. The "AAA" runs through to the end of July and could possibly continue into August with Westerns and Nationals. This is a highly competitive team and your player's commitment is very important at this level.
*There will be an additional team fee charged on top of the regular Spring Registration fee for this program. Please reach out to bantam@rmmba.ca if you have questions about the cost for this program.
*Note that AA and AAA teams will have a third practice per week.
Most importantly, with your registration, you are becoming a member of a 100% volunteer run organization. You MUST volunteer to keep the league running. This year we are implementing a volunteer fee of $75 in the form of a post dated cheque (submitted to your team manager and only cashed if the 4 hour volunteer requirement is not met). If you are unable to coach, there will be a full list of volunteer opportunities provided. On the field, coaches need to focus on coaching, parents need to focus on score keeping, field prep and take down. You should never see your coach setting up or taking down or cleaning up after practice. It is not a lot of work if we all do our part, but it's an overwhelming amount of work when it falls on just a few people.

Challenger Baseball is a division that provides an opportunity for children with cognitive or physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of participation in baseball at a level structured to their abilities. Baseball games are played in a fun, safe environment where no score is kept. Able-bodied “Buddies” are assigned (one on one, where possible) to each participant. These Buddies assist the Challenger Baseball players with their involvement in the game. Pushing wheelchairs around the base path, assisting players in how to hold the bat and swing, or providing protection for the Challenger Baseball player from a batted ball, are just a few of the ways the Buddies offer a better experience for the participants in Challenger Baseball. Each participant is treated like every other player in the conventional baseball program. All players are outfitted in uniforms, use the same equipment, and play their games at the local baseball parks. A team picture is a must for Challenger Baseball, as it is in the other divisions. Last but not least, the smiles are plentiful and free! The joy on the face of each participant in Challenger Baseball makes it very clear how much fun they are having. No pressures, no playing time issues, everyone just has fun! It's what baseball is supposed to be all about.
