This is the season that PTSOs and clubs should use for the upcoming 2025 season.

Adult - Learn to Paddle/Recreational Programs

Optional cateogry that can be used for any lessons offered by clubs for Adults. These members do not take part in any competitions at the club, Divisional, PTSO, or National level.

    Adults - Are you looking to develop a new skill or share the skills you already have?

     

    Consider joining the Prince George Canoe & Kayak Club as a Volunteer. Sign up to this Info Session and we will arrange a time to talk more about the opportunities for you with our club.

    As a volunteer you will receive training, support, and plenty of time to practice your paddling. 

    In your first summer with our club, you will be trained as a Beach Supervisor and receive Basic Paddling Skill Training.

    In your second summer with our club, if you are interested in working directly with your paddlers, you can be trained as a Community Coach (online course and in person evaluation) with NCCP coach.ca

    If you are interested in helping our paddlers train and attend the BC Summer Games, you can be trained in the ELCC program (Entry-Level Coaching Course) with NCCP coach.ca

    There are often grants available to support our volunteers in paying for their training programs with a minimum # of volunteer hours each year.

    August 7th 5:30pm Try-It Day @ West Lake

    We offer kids the opportunity to explore the world of paddling thru a free 30min paddling experience. This is a great way for new and beginner paddlers to understand what a canoe and kayak can feel like and spark the pleasure of paddling. Generally suitable for kids ages 5 and up.

    **Note One Free Try-It per Child per Year

  • 2025-08-07 Thursday August 7th Learn to Paddle 6pm-7pm (Youth - Canoe Kids/Learn to Paddle/Recreational Programs)

    August 7th Learn to Paddle @ West Lake 6:00pm-7:00pm

    This 1 hour program introduces kids to paddling in a variety of boats as well as covering basic water and boat safety topics.

    Suitable for new paddlers or those who have used a canoe or kayak a couple times but with no formal paddle stroke training. Must be at least 5 years old - but best for ages 8 and up due to program length and concepts covered.

  • 2025-08-09/10 Sat & Sun August 9th & 10th Discover Paddling 2pm-4pm (Youth - Canoe Kids/Learn to Paddle/Recreational Programs)

    Saturday August 9th & Sunday August 10th 2pm-4pm (both days) Discover Paddling @ West Lake

    This 4 hour program is perfect for kids 6-12 looking to develop basic paddling skills and learn some fun water games. Taking concepts from the Learn to Paddle program and expanding the skills and techniques, paddlers will learn how to control the direction and speed of their watercraft, carrying their gear, and understanding the basics of handling a rescue situation.

    No previous paddling experience required but paddlers should be comfortable swimming whilst wearing a lifejacket. Best for ages 6-12 due to program length, concepts and activities covered.

    This 2 hour program is a fun way to spend the afternoon at West Lake guided by our coaches in games and activities that build skills thru play and team work.

    Previous paddling experience required. Paddlers should be comfortable swimming whilst wearing a lifejacket. Best for ages 6-12 due to program length, concepts and activities covered.

    Private Party: Can be booked it as a private party for min. 6 paddlers.

Recreational Youth Member

Optional category for any Youth member that only takes part in recreational programming offered by the clubs. These members may take part in any paddling discipline activity but willl not take part in any competitions.

  • 2025 Youth Club Membership (Recreational Youth Member)

    $20.00

    All Youth Paddlers (18 years and younger) must register as a Club Member prior to registering for a Club Program.

     

    Youth Club Membership includes:

    • Use of all the club equipment required for your registered program - no gear purchase required
    • Mandatory Paddling Insurance provided by our PSO Canoe Kayak BC
    • Invitation to our Open Houses and Special Events
    • Access to Drop-In Paddle Days (must be accompanied by an Adult Club Member)
    • Membership in our Club
    • Voting rights at our AGM
    • Ability to Volunteer with the club and gain educational and work opportunities
      • high school volunteer credits may be applicable

Recreational Adult Member

Optional category for any Adult member that only takes part in recreational programming offered by the clubs. These members may take part in any paddling discipline activity but willl not take part in any competitions.

    All Adult Paddlers (19 years and older) must register as a Club Member prior to registering for a Club Program.

    • Invitation to our Open Houses and Special Events

    Any Youth attending a our Drop-in Paddle Days must be a registered Youth Club Member and must be supervised by a registered Adult Club Member.
