FREE TRIAL MEMBER- ATHLETE ONLY

This registrant category is intended for individuals interested in trying water polo for the first time. These individuals will be covered under WPC’s insurance policy on a one-time basis for a maximum of fourteen (14) consecutive days from the first day they enter the water (i.e., If an individual starts their free trial on September 1, 2024, their trial will end September 15, 2024). Free Trial Members CANNOT compete in any level of competition*. This is not inclusive of scrimmages.

  • Free Two Week Trial - BRAND NEW TO WATER POLO (FREE TRIAL MEMBER- ATHLETE ONLY)

    This package is for athletes who are completely new to water polo OR who have never been registered with a Canadian water polo club before. SHORT TERM MEMBER- ATHLETE ONLY

This registrant category is intended for individuals attending bring a friend/parent to practices/activities. These individuals will be covered under WPC’s insurance policy once per season. Short Term Members CANNOT compete in any level of competition*. This is not inclusive of scrimmages.

  • Mini Torps (SHORT TERM MEMBER- ATHLETE ONLY)

    The Calgary Torpedoes are excited to announce our 2025 Mini-Torps Program. Every year the Torpedoes host a series of Mini Torps events and training sessions. This opportunity is open to aspiring young athletes who are a part of the local community clubs in the Calgary and surrounding region, AND athletes who are new to the sport of water polo and want to see what it is all about. Athletes will be introduced to what it means to be and train like a Torpedoes in a high-performance environment. They will get to know current Torpedoes athletes, coaches, and alumni while also participating in a number of monthly training and information sessions. All sessions take place at the MNP Community and Sport Centre in downtown Calgary. 

    Dates & Times:

    Monday, January 27th 6:30-8:00pm
    Monday, February 10th  6:30-8:00pm
    Monday, March 31st  6:30-8:00pm
    Monday, April 7th  6:30-8:00pm
     
    Age Cut Off: 
     
    Born in 2017 or earlier. (10U and older) We recommend that athletes are comfortable in deep water and can swim at least 2 lengths of the pool. Athletes will be grouped by ability during these sessions. 

    Please complete the registration through the link below. When registering please use the same RAMP account information you use with your community club. If you are a new water polo family please create a new account.  You will need to select "Athlete Member-No provincial league” as the division. Further information will be emailed out to all registrants prior to each session.

    Cost: 

    Free Torpedoes Registration - Athletes participating in these training session must be actively registered in the RAMP database and pay the AWPA/WPC insurance. If you are currently registered with a community club you should have already paid this insurance fee and it will transfer over. Please select the Torpedoes as a secondary club registration, NOT as your primary.

  • Alumni Scrimmage (SHORT TERM MEMBER- ATHLETE ONLY)

    This registration package is for athletes who are going to play in our Alumni/Holiday scrimmage and are NOT already registered with a Canadian club. Please reach out to athletic.director@calgarytorpedoes.ca if you have any questions.

PROVINCIAL

This registrant category is intended for youth and adult Registrants and their coaches, who train and/or compete year-round in various non-Water Polo Canada sanctioned activities, programs and events. This registrant category also targets officials who referee at community/regional and/or provincial level events. Registrants CAN compete in tournaments/Leagues hosted within and outside of Canada. However, each PSO determines the eligible events for this registrant category.

  • Bridge Development (2x per week) (PROVINCIAL)

    Torpedoes Bridge Development Program - Part Time

    Athletes born 2011 - 2012, Exceptional 2013s

    Please use this registration package if you have completed the August Assessment and received an invite to the Bridge Development Program. 

    This is a part time program designed for athletes that play for a community club but also want an introduction to the Torpedoes high performance experience. This includes supplemental training in addition to community club practices two times per week.

     

    Practice Schedule

    • Monday 6:30-8:00pm & Saturday 12:30-2:00pm 
    • Dryland Saturday 11:45-12:30pm

     

    There is no planned travel or competition involved as the focus for athletes will be on competing with their community clubs in the AWPA Provincial League. This is a great way for athletes to increase their skill level and get an idea of what the Torpedoes is all about.

    Fee: $600

    Please note you will be required to sign bond waivers to complete registration, but this is not a requirement to participate in this program.

    Please complete the Volunteer package (Parent Only) as you will be asked to assist with Minor Officiating shifts for the Alberta Open event as this is part of exposing you to the requirements of being a full time participant .

  • In Season Assessment/Trial (PROVINCIAL)

    This registration package is for athletes new to the Torpedoes who wish to be evaluated during our trial assessment process OR who were not present for our August Assessment sessions.  There is no Torpedoes fee associated with this, however all members must pay the base insurance fee for AWPA and WPC to be covered during these sessions. This fee will transfer from club to club. All evaluations and trials must approved by the athletic director (athletic.director@calgarytorpedoes.ca) and coaching staff. 

    Please note that you are required to sign bond waivers for completion of registration, but this is not a requirement for participation in the trial.

NATIONAL

This registrant category is intended for High-Performance Registrants** and their coaches, who train and/or compete year-round in various domestic and international activities, programs and events including those sanctioned by Water Polo Canada. This registrant category also targets officials who referee at national and/or international level events. Competitive registrants are eligible to compete in ALL Water Polo Canada sanctioned events as well as tournaments/Leagues offered by PSOs and clubs.

  • Bridge Selects (4x per week) (NATIONAL)

    Torpedoes - Bridge Selects  Program

    Athletes born 2011 - 2012, exceptional 2013s

    Please use this Registration package if you have completed the August Assessment and received an invite to the Bridge Selects Team. 

    This program is designed for athletes that play for a community club but are also ready to start making the transition to competitive water polo. Athletes will train with the Torpedoes 4x per week, while also training and competing with their local community clubs 1x per week.

    • 4x per week water sessions 
      • Monday 6:30-8:00pm, Tuesday 8:00-10:00pm, Thursday 6:30-8:00pm, Saturday 12:30-2:00pm
    • 2x per week dryland/weightlifting sessions 
      • Tuesday 7:15-8:00pm & Saturday 11:45-12:30pm

     

    Fee $1200

    This fee includes: Facility fees, coaching fees, membership voting, facility access card

    FULL TIME PROGRAM

    The Torpedoes 16U is a full-time program. Athletes will be required to travel and participate in tournaments and competitions throughout the year. Select 16Us may be invited to train and/or compete-up with the 18Us, additionally 2010s and older will be evaluated and invited to the WPC (RDC) Legacy Training Centre.

     

    16U Gold (Development) Practice Schedule 

    • 5x per week water sessions

    The Torpedoes 18U is a full-time program. Athletes will be required to travel and participate in tournaments and competitions throughout the year. Select 18Us may be invited to train and/or compete-up with the Seniors, additionally 2010s and older will be evaluated and invited to the WPC (RDC) Legacy Training Centre.

    • National Team athletes who are decentralized are invited to all Senior Torpedoes training

    Bond Requirements 

    The Torpedoes community value the participation of our Seniors within our club and the years of dedication you have given to the sport.  There are no bond requirements for this age group but, we may seek support for our casino and event volunteer hours.
