2026 Season

This is the season that PTSOs and clubs should use for the upcoming 2026 season.

Sprint Competitive U10

Registrant must be age 10 or under on Thursday, December 31, 2026 You will not be allowed to register a participant outside of the age range.

Mandatory for all U10 Sprint paddlers who are in programming at their clubs that are under their PTSO or Divisional jurisdiction for competitive or insurance purposes. They may or may not take part in competitions but CKC member fee will be charged.

    The St. Albert Canoe Kayak Club currently offers sprint canoe kayak programs to members aged 9 and up. These programs provide instruction and training for beginners and experienced paddlers alike in the Olympic sport of flat water canoe and kayak.

    • U10, U12 & U14 Bantam Program: kids aged 8-13 learn paddling skills, enjoy the beautiful Cardiff Pond, make friends, while doing age-appropriate athletic training that follows Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles. The goal is to develop water sport skills and confidence while having a great time in a safe and supportive environment.

    • U16 Program:  aged (14-15) the High-Performance training group is where competitive sprint canoers and kayakers may perfect and enhance their strength and skills while working towards excellence in the sport. This group empowers athletes to compete at regional, provincial, national, and even international paddling events.

    • U18 Program:  aged 16 and older for experienced canoers and kayakers who are committed to attaining their training and racing goals. This program is tailored to meet individual athlete needs, and therefore does not always follow a standard schedule. The U18 Schedule changes weekly depending on the load of the training cycle, the competition schedule, and the coaching assessment of athlete's needs. Each week, the schedule is communicated via email from the Head Coach or Assistant Coach.

Sprint Competitive U12

Mandatory for all Sprint paddlers (over the age of 18) who are in programming at their clubs, PTSO, or Division. They compete at National competitions (and are not considered Masters). They may or may not take part in competitions but CKC member fee will be charged.
