    A fun and welcoming introduction to ringette for young children just starting out on the ice. This program focuses on helping participants feel comfortable skating while developing balance, coordination, and confidence through games and play-based activities. It’s all about having fun and building a love for being on the ice.

    Best For:
    • First-time skaters
    • Younger children with little or no skating experience
    • Kids who are just learning to be comfortable on the ice
     
    Commitment Level:
    • 1 session per week
    • Introductory fall program (October-December)
     
    Continue the Season:
    A winter session (January-March) is planned, with registration opening later in the fall for families who wish to continue.

    Half Season (October - December 2026)

    Equipment rental package for a new Active Start / FUN1 player. A new player is considered someone who has never registered for ringette before.

    Equipment rental includes:
     
    · BNQ approved neck guard
    · Elbow pads
    · Shin pads
    · Shoulder pads
    · Hockey gloves
    · Ringette pants
    · Ringette girdle
    · Ringette stick
    · CSA ringette cage
    · Equipment bag
     
    Rental does not include a CSA approved helmet or skates. 
     
    Availability of equipment is limited and will be rented on a first-come, first-served basis. 
     
    A postdated cheque, payable to the Halifax Hurricanes Ringette Association, dated April 15th, 2027, or a credit card charge form, for the amount of $450 is required. 
     
    The postdated cheque or credit card charge will be cashed/processed if:
     
    · The equipment is not returned at the end of the season; or
    · There is missing or damaged (*) equipment.
     
    (*) Damaged = beyond normal wear and tear and the piece needs to be replaced. HHRA will deduct the cost of any damaged or missing equipment from the post-date cheque and refund the difference.
     
    Cost: $50 (half season)

FUN1

  • FUN1 Player Registration (Oct - Dec 2026) (FUN1)

    October - December 2026

    FUN1 is the next step for players ready to build on their skating skills while being introduced to basic ringette concepts. Through fun drills and small-area games, athletes develop skills like passing, carrying the ring, and coordination. The focus remains on participation, confidence, and enjoyment—without the pressure of competition.

    • Players with some basic skating ability
    • Returning Active Start players
    • Kids ready to try simple ringette skills in a fun setting
     
    Commitment Level:
    • 2 sessions per week in most weeks
    • Introductory fall program (October-December)

    FUN2 is the next step in the pathway and offers a full-season experience for players ready for more structure. This program continues to build skating and ring skills while introducing more consistent, game-based play. Players gain confidence, develop teamwork and decision-making skills, and begin to understand how ringette is played in a supportive, development-focused environment.

    * Now open to all ringette associations *

    This high-energy program is built to boost confidence, sharpen fundamentals, and help players develop smart, game-ready skills in a fun and supportive environment. Whether you're looking to improve your skating, shooting, or overall play, Josie brings the experience, positivity, and passion to take young athletes to the next level. A great way to stay active, build skills, and have a blast on the ice all summer long!

    The program will also provide for goalie specific development. 
     
    Registration is restricted to athletes who played at a minimum FUNdamentals ringette level during the 2025-2026 season. This program is not suitable for new skaters.
     
    Sessions are 1 hour each week for 12 weeks.
     

    Location: Greenfoot Energy Centre

    Date/Time: Mondays at 6:15 pm, June through August 

    Cost: $275

    Limited to 25 participants.
