2026 Season

This is the season that PTSOs and clubs should use for the upcoming 2026 season.

Sprint Competitive U10

Registrant must be age 10 or under on Thursday, December 31, 2026 You will not be allowed to register a participant outside of the age range.

Mandatory for all U10 Sprint paddlers who are in programming at their clubs that are under their PTSO or Divisional jurisdiction for competitive or insurance purposes. They may or may not take part in competitions but CKC member fee will be charged.

  • High Performance (Youth) (Sprint Competitive U10)

    9-11am Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, July 6-August 31 (21 Practices) Note:  August 3 practice moves to August 4.

    Coached by National Team Canoeist, and certified personal trainer, Zoe Bergeron.

    Designed for youth (ages 10-18) who are looking for a focused training program, involving both on-water and dryland activities.  Not just for paddlers!  This program is ideal for winter-sport athletes, such as hockey players, skiiers, swimmers who want a unique way to maintain or improve conditioning, agility, strength and endurance over the summer.

    This is a competitive program, and we will be preparing for specific regattas:

Sprint Competitive Master

Mandatory for all Sprint paddlers (over the age of 25) who are exclusively racing in the Master category at any competitions. A CKC member fee will be charged.

  • Masters Canoe/Kayak (Competitive) (Sprint Competitive Master)

    Tuesday & Thursday 6:00 - 7:30pm, June 8 - October 1, (32 Practices) 

    Note:  No practices Aug. 24-31, due to Nationals. 

    This extended-season program, coached by National Team Canoeist Zoe Bergeron, is designed to build technical skill, speed and endurance.  Focus will be on both singles and crew boats, to optimize racing opportunities. Race-readiness is a key objective of this program, and all participants are encouraged to compete.

    This program is intended for returning/experienced paddlers.

    Target regattas include sprint and long distance events, and novice-friendly options:

    • July 12 (Masters-only regatta)
    • July 19 - Nationals Qualifiers
    • Aug. 30 - CanMas (Nationals for Masters)
    • Sept (TBD) - Ottawa River Paddle Challenge - Long Distance
    • Oct. 3 - O-Cup - Long Distance

Competitive Special Olympics/PaddleAll

The classification of PaddleAll (Intellectual Disability) competitors shall be in accordance with the Special Olympics Canada policies and procedures. Mandatory for all athletes who are identified as PaddleAll or Special Olympics who will take part in competitions and CKC member fee will be charged.


    Recreational Special Olympics/PaddleAll

    Sprint Recreational Adult Member

      Tuesday & Thursday evenings at 6:00pm; July 6-August 20.  

      Not sure if canoe/kayak is for you?  SPOILER:  It is!

      Join us for this 7 week program (14 practices) where you'll have the option at each practice to opt for a coached workout or a 'social' paddle.  We have a variety of boats to suit every ability, ranging from super-stable recreational kayaks to elite racing canoes and kayaks. (Note - we do not have recreational canoes, other than our big Kalandor which holds 4-10 paddlers.)  Regardless of what you're paddling, our safety boat is always nearby in case of a tip.

      We ask that paddlers arrive a few minutes early to select and prepare your boat and gear.  Our goal is to launch as close to 6:30 as possible.

    Youth - Canoe Kids/Learn to Paddle/Recreational Programs

    Optional category that can be used for any lessons offered by clubs for Youth. These members do not take part in any competitions at the club, Divisional, PTSO, or National level.

    Dragon Boat

    Optional category that can be used for any Dragon Boat programming offered by clubs. These members do not take part in any Sprint competitions at the club, Divisional, PTSO, or National level.

    • Youth Dragon Boat Team (Dragon Boat)

      This youth-led program is a pilot project, partnering with the local 4H Club to establish a competitive youth dragon boat team in Peterborough. 

      Coached by National Team Canoeist and certified personal trainer, Zoe Bergeron, this program includes paddle pool sessions and on-water training sessions.

      The target regatta is Peterborough's Dragon Boat Festival on June 13.  Athletes must be at least 13 and no older than 18 on the day of the race.  

      Participants receive a discount on PCKC's July & August programs.

       

      NOTE!  Kick-off Meeting for this Team is April 17, 4-6pm at Sadleir House (751 George St. North, Peterborough). All interested youth welcome to attend.
