The Spruce Grove & District Minor Football Association (SGDMFA) offers a structured Tackle Football program for youth, focusing on skill development, safety, and teamwork. The program is divided into age-appropriate divisions, each designed to enhance players' abilities while fostering a love for the game.

U9 Flag Football (Formerly Novice):

• Eligibility: Players born in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

• Focus: Introduces fundamental football movements, terminology, routes, and teamwork in a non-contact environment.

• Schedule: Practices are held twice a week, with games on weekends. The season runs May 27 to October from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM, with a break for the month of July.

U11 6-a-Side Tackle (Formerly Atom Tackle):

• Eligibility: Players born in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

• Focus: Provides an introduction to safe tackling techniques and all positions in a developmental setting.

• Schedule: Practices begin May 14 - 21 Wednesdays, following that it will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM to 8 PM. The season starts with non-contact training, progresses to safe contact with equipment, and transitions to full contact. Games take place on weekends, with a break for the month of July.

U13 9-a-Side Tackle (Formerly PeeWee Tackle):

• Eligibility: Players born in 2013 and 2014.

• Focus: Enhances strategy and teamwork, emphasizing skill development, safe tackling, and fitness. Players are introduced to team playbooks and special teams.

• Schedule: Spring practices take place from May 27 to October, practices run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM. The season starts with non-contact training, progresses to safe contact with equipment, and transitions to full contact. Games occur on weekends, potentially including long weekends. There is no programming in July, and playoffs may extend into mid-November.

  Dear Parents and Guardians,

  Thank you for your interest in the Spruce Grove Cougars U16 football program. Due to an unprecedented volume of registrations this season, our U16 division has now reached capacity, and we have moved to a waitlist for any new registrants.

  We understand how important it is for young athletes to get on the field and play, and while we would love to accommodate everyone, we are limited by roster sizes and available resources. However, there are clubs in surrounding communities that are still actively recruiting players for the upcoming season.

• Schedule: Spring practices run from May 27 to October, practices are held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM. The season starts with non-contact training, progresses to safe contact with equipment, and transitions to full contact. There is a break for the month of July, and playoffs start in late October or early November, potentially extending into the third week of November.
