    Chilliwack Minor Hockey is proud to announce that for the fourth consecutive season we will be offering our own goaltender specific training program during the 2024-25 hockey season. This program will be offered to CMHA goaltenders registered in the U11-U18 age groups. This program is an excellent way for our goaltenders to stay current with their games and personal growth, while also developing in a team setting throughout the year. CMHA head goaltending instructor Eric Williams (Assertion Goaltending) has prepared a detailed & progression-based plan built specifically for the improvement of our goaltenders within Chilliwack Minor Hockey. 

     
    This year we have made a slight change where we have moved the program to Tuesday evenings to assist with scheduling conflicts. We feel that this will go a long way to ensuring our goalie membership is best able to take advantage of this program offering.
     
    CMHA Goaltender Training Program consists of:
     
    - 1 day per week designated for on-ice goaltender specific training with a 1:4 coach to goaltender ratio. 
    - 3 sessions per month for goaltenders registered in the program. 
    - Monthly zoom session for goaltenders (and their families) with coaches like Jeff Malcolm (Hartford Wolfpack- AHL) and Mackenzie Skapski (Calgary Wranglers- AHL) as well as other guest speakers. 
     
    18-week program- 18 (60 minute) ice sessions, 6 monthly zoom sessions.

    CMHA is happy to announce that we will be returning our “Learn to Skate for Hockey” program for new members of the Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association, or players looking to join hockey this season in other surrounding associations. This program will be built towards allowing young players the opportunity to get comfortable on their skates prior to the beginning of their first hockey season! While this program is not mandatory for new players to CMHA, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that all players registered to play in Chilliwack Minor take part in this program to ease their transition into hockey! Ages 4 - 10 years old

     
    This program will consist of (1) weekly skate from Thursday August 1-August 29th. This program is designed to keep players moving and increase their comfort levels of being on the ice and learning the game! Topics will consist of:
     
    - Basic balance and skating mechanics 
    - Introduction to edge and stride work 
    - Work on agility/control 
    - Proper stick position while skating 
     
    ** Please note that all registrants ARE REQUIRED to have full hockey equipment to take part in this program.
