ILWP

I Love Water Polo (ILWP) is an introductory water polo program for children aged 5+ (born 2017-2020).

Athletes should enjoy being in the water, but do not have to be good swimmers.  Session are held in the deep tank at the SHAW or shallow/deep end at the YMCA. 

Floatie belts are available for those who need one until they are confident to swim without one.  

The program combines swimming with learning water polo skills and strategies. Taught using the Seals Certification Program developed by Water Polo Saskatchewan (WPS), this program adds to skills delivered through community swimming lessons. Level outcomes are identified on the WPS website here. There are many links between how water polo skills can support the development of swimming. Certain water polo skills will help your child be a better, more confident swimmer.

If there are openings, an ILWP athlete is welcome to signup for more than one ILWP day, please get in touch with us at waterpolosaskatoon@gmail.com, there is a price adjustment on the 2nd and/or 3rd sessions.

If there are not enough athletes to make proper groupings, you may be contacted to join another ILWP day/time. 

2025-2026 Fall Groups:

  1. Mondays 6-7pm @ YMCA (moved from the Shaw to the YMCA due to space constraints)
  2. Thursdays 7-8pm @ YMCA (unable to secure usual Wednesday pool space)
  3. Sundays 2:30-3:30pm @ YMCA

      Registation includes training and competition fees. Accommodation and transportation are at the athletes' responsibility.
