Masters Competitive and Adult Recreational Programs

Welcome to the Kamloops Canoe & Kayak Club, located in beautiful Kamloops, British Columbia. At KCKC, we are dedicated to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for individuals of all ages through paddling sports, all while enjoying the stunning natural surroundings of our waterways.

Whether you're looking to try something new, build skills, stay fit, or simply spend quality time on the water, our programs are designed to offer a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Program Overview

Adult Recreational Program

Our Adult Recreational program is perfect for:

  • Beginners with no prior experience
  • Individuals looking to learn a new skill
  • Anyone wanting to enjoy time on the water in a relaxed, social setting

Participants will develop basic paddling skills, improve fitness, and gain confidence on the water — all at their own pace.

Masters Competitive Program

Our Masters Competitive program is designed for:

  • Experienced paddlers
  • Former or current competitive athletes
  • Individuals interested in training and competing in canoe/kayak events

This program provides structured training sessions, skill development, and opportunities to participate in regattas and competitions.

Who Can Join?

  • Adults of all skill levels
  • No prior paddling experience required for Recreational participants
  • Competitive athletes are welcome in the Masters program

Registration Information (IMPORTANT)

Due to differences in CKBC Liability Insurance fees between program categories, please carefully select the appropriate option during registration:

  • Adult Recreational
    Select this option if you do NOT plan to compete during the 2026 season
  • Masters Competitive
    Select this option if you plan to participate in competitions during the 2026 season

Important Note:
Participants who do not intend to compete in 2026 must register under Adult Recreational. This ensures proper insurance coverage and fee allocation through Canoe Kayak BC (CKBC).

Join us this season and discover the joy of paddling — whether you're chasing competition goals or simply looking for a great way to stay active and enjoy nature.

Master Training sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM and Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM.

Spring Season

Spring Season (Early April - Late May)
Due to weather and water conditions, session availability is limited in April and increases in May.
 
Notes
  • April: Limited sessions (approx. 2 Saturdays available in Pioneer Park Water Sport Facility)
  • May: Increased frequency (up to ~10 sessions total available in Shumway Lake Water Sport Facility)

Summer Season

Summer Season (Early June - Late August)
Peak paddling season with full schedule availability.
 
Notes
  • Full 3 sessions/week schedule available at Shumway Lake Water Spor Facility
  • Ideal for both recreational and competitive paddlers.

Fall Season

Fall Season (Early September - Late October)
Shorter season with consistent but reduced volume.  Due to weather and water conditions, session availability is limited in October.
 
Notes
  • September: A few Paddling Sessions at Shumway Lake and Pioneer Park Sport facilities.
  • October: Limited sessions (approx. 2 Saturdays available in Pioneer Park Water Sport Facility)
  • Bring your head lights for early Sunset.

Full on Water Season

Full On-Water Season (April - October)
Best value option for committed paddlers.
 
Notes
  • Covers Spring + Summer + Fall
  • Ideal for competitive Masters athletes and Adult Recreational participants.
  • Priority access to sessions recommended
