Balmy Beach Canoe Club

Special Olympics

The Special Olympics Summer Paddling Program offers athletes the opportunity to train and paddle in a supportive, inclusive club environment while developing skills and confidence on the water.

Athletes are introduced to sprint canoe and kayak using a range of adaptive equipment to support individual needs and goals. Training focuses on skill development, teamwork, and enjoyment of the sport, with opportunities to participate in local, provincial, and national-level competitions throughout the season.

Our coaches and volunteers create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment where athletes are supported in their development, whether they are new to paddling or returning with previous experience. No prior paddling experience is required, though participants must be comfortable in and around the water.

This program is ideal for athletes looking to stay active, build confidence, and be part of a team while experiencing the excitement of paddling and competition.

Special Olympics Summer Program

The BBCC Special Olympics Program is an all-abilities program with a mix of competitive and recreational participants. Coaches and volunteers work in a friendly, knowledgeable and safe environment to help you explore the range of adaptive equipment and get out on the water. No paddling experience necessary but participants must be comfortable in and around water and wear a transport Canada certified PFD.
