Balmy Beach Canoe Club
Learn to Paddle is an introductory program for adults who are new to sprint canoe and kayak and want a supportive, low-pressure way to try the sport.
Designed for beginners, the program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of paddling, including proper equipment use, basic technique, and on-water safety. Participants train alongside experienced coaches and are gradually introduced to the club environment, gaining familiarity with the boats, training structure, and community.
Learn to Paddle is the entry point into the Masters Sprint Canoe and Kayak Program for athletes with no prior paddling experience. The goal of the program is to build confidence, develop foundational skills, and fully integrate participants into Masters training by the end of the program.
Athletes who complete Learn to Paddle and choose to register for the full Masters summer program will have their Learn to Paddle fee deducted from their Masters registration.
This program is best suited for adults who are curious about paddling, enjoy being active, and are interested in joining the Masters program but want a structured introduction before committing to a full season.
