*AGES 8-14*
MONDAY to FRIDAY from 9am-12pm between July 2nd-September 7th.
Our FUNdamental program introduces children to the sport of sprint canoe and kayak in a fun, safe, team oriented environment! This program is run by certified coaches and focuses on teaching the FUNdamentals of paddling and training. Athletes work to develop a foundation of movement skills, coordination, balance, and teamwork.
Athletes paddle in a variety of sprint boats, progressing from beginner to more advanced boats and more advanced training. Practices include a variety of developmentally appropriate exercise activities. Paddlers are encouraged to participate in local regattas. It's always the best part of the season!
Wondering what you might be doing? Here's some examples:
1. Participating in appropriate workouts out on the water.
2. Swimming and playing games.
3. Playing dry-land games such as Capture the Flag, Soccer, and more!
4. Learning to race and paddle with others.
5. Becoming confident in sprint boats and showcasing learned abilities at local regattas!
Regatta's that you would be able to participate in:
1. July 13th Ridge Invitational (Whonnock Lake, Maple Ridge)
2. July 26-28 BC Cup 2 (Burnaby Lake, Burnaby)
3. September 7-8 Fort Ridge Fall Classic/ Pacific Cup (Whonnock Lake, Maple Ridge)
There will be no practices on Monday's after a regatta weekend!
*This program can transition into year round training with the Fort Canoe and Kayak Club!
