Peterborough Canoe and Kayak Club
Here are the summer programs for 2024!
Our summer youth camp programs are suited to new paddlers, and those who have been with us before. As long as your paddler is comfortable in and around the water, they'll be fine! There will be opportunities to compete through the summer, so keep your eyes open for announcements.
It's not all about the kids! Check out our Master's Program for teens and adults and any skill level. No excuses - paddling is an accessible sport, and we're working hard to get everybody having fun in a boat.
If you have any questions, email us at info@pckc.ca.
Junior Camps: Ages 8-11
Senior Camps: Ages 11-14

Get ready, Special Olympians! We have THREE registration options for you this season! GOLD, GREEN and RED
GOLD
This program is perfect for returning paddlers who have a need for speed! Paddlers will be introduced to increasingly challenging boats, and will develop balance and paddling technique. We will use practice races to celebrate improvements and prepare paddlers for regattas. (Race fees and transportation are not included in program registration.) Racing is not mandatory ... but it's so much fun! Meet Special Olympians from other Clubs in Ontario. THURSDAYS 3:30pm - 4:15pm
GREEN
This program is for Special Olympians who have paddled with us before, and are considering competing in a regatta. No matter what kind of boat you paddled last season, there is a race for YOU (but no pressure to race!) There will be a variety of accessible canoes and kayaks available at practices, to ensure paddlers of all skill levels are safe and comfortable at all times. Paddlers can expect to paddle single kayaks, and 2-person kayaks - twice the fun! If your athlete has not paddled with us before, they may still be suited to this program, depending on physical ability and balance. If you're not sure, please ask. Angela Shearer can help provide answers or put you in touch with a coach, for more detailed information. THURSDAYS 2:00pm - 3:15pm
RED
This program is for Special Olympians who are new to sprint paddling, or just want a fun paddle with friends. There will be a variety of accessible canoes and kayaks available, to ensure paddlers are safe and comfortable at all times. It's always fun to try a different boat! Staffing ratios are high, to ensure that each paddler has adequate assistance and support. No prior paddling experience is needed, but it is important that your athlete feels comfortable in the water wearing a lifejacket. WEDNESDAYS 4:45pm - 6:00pm
Registration for each program is password protected. Please contact Angela Shearer for your password.
All SO athletes are welcome to participate in regattas (including athletes in the RED Program). Our first one is July 14 in Ottawa and our second one is Aug. 10 or 11 in Carleton Place. Mark your calendars!
