Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club

Intro to Sprint

Our intro to sprint program introduces youth & adults to the awesome sport of sprint canoe/kayak in a fun, safe and team-oriented environment.

The program is run by our Nationally certified coaches.

We focus on teaching the Fundamentals of paddling by developing a foundation of movement, coordination and balance. The athletes will get to try out a variety of boats that accommodate all levels from beginners to experienced paddlers.

This is the first step in the Long-Term Athlete Development Model. Paddlers spend time in a variety of boats and will be introduced to canoeing and kayaking skills including basic paddling skills, balance, boat control, and water safety.

Participants will have a fun time challenging their own abilities while developing coordination, body awareness, self-confidence, and team-work skills.

After you complete the Intro to Sprint Program you may want to join one of our sprint development programs (beginners or intermediate).
